The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is the foremost national science and technology institution in Ghana. It was established in its present form by NLC Decree 293 of 1968 and later re-established by the CISR Act 521 of 1996. However, its origins can be traced back to the former National Research Council (NCR), which was established in 1959.
The CSIR Science for Impact Fund shall be managed by a Board of Trustees comprising members from the CSIR and the Private sector.
A draft policy on governance details has been prepared and is currently undergoing review. The final policy document will cover aspects on; how the Board will be selected, term limits and renewal etc., conflict of interest policy, audit and accountability based on the legal framework, etc.
The Board will be responisbe for the Management of the fund; budgeting, planning, expenditure (including disbursement of funds), financial infolows and final approval of applications for developmental projects and innovative demand-driven research.
